On this day in 2005, Juventus were the visitors to Anfield in the Champions League quarter-finals. The Turin outfit were stunned by two early goals from Sami Hyypia and an incredible Luis Garcia stunner.

Being a liverpool fan..l remember this well…before the match…the lfc fans put up a mosaic in the kop to the juventus fans at the anfield road end of the pitch…The was was of cource translated in italian of frienship in reference and rememerence of the 39 juventus fans who died at the heysel stadium disaster in the european cup final 20 years previously……Whilst some juve fans applauded at the anfield road end…Most juve fans refused to forgive the liverpool fans shameful behaviour that led up to the fatal crush that evening in brussels in may 1985, and stuck out their fingers via turning their backs …..But on the pitch it was a fantastic performance from LFC….And considering the team that Juventus had too at that time. For liverpool to remain unfazed and then get a result in turin in the hostile and intimidating surroundings at the stade delle alpe in the second leg…..lt was a fantastic night en route to that magical night in instanbul 2005…rip 39
